BOLIX KWM - Cross Fixing Node

SAFETY BELTS FOR FAÇADES

The Cross Fixing Node BOLIX (KWM) sets a new safety standard in insulation fastening. BOLIX KWM is an innovative solution that increases the insulation’s resistance to wind uplift (tested according to ETAG 004, scheme 2b) several times compared to standard fastening. In this solution, an appropriate mechanical fastener passes through two crossed strips of fiberglass mesh (used in the system) with a width no less than the diameter of the fastener’s plate and a length of no less than 400 mm each. After anchoring the fastener, the mesh strips should be glued to the styrofoam with adhesive mortar used for creating the reinforcing layer, which is part of the BOLIX system. This solution is covered by the Technical Approval ITB AT-15-2693/2011, and the effectiveness of the fastening is confirmed by ITB testing.

Cross-Section of Building Insulation

BOLIX KWM is recommended for fastening thermal insulation:

  • On weaker substrates
  • When installing heavy cladding on insulation (e.g., stone, etc.)
  • When insulating over existing insulation (DOUBLE TERM technique)
  • Of significant thickness
  • On gable walls or other walls without window openings
  • On walls of tall buildings
  • In areas heavily exposed to wind suction
